1988 firebird

i have a 1988 firebird, it use to have a v6 in it, and i'm droppin in a 350 carbuerated, my question is will the mechanical fuel pump pull fuel form the electronic fuel pump or will i have to put just a regular stand pipe in the tank

I doubt very much that the mechanical will be able to pull fuel through the pump motor in the tank.
