Hello to all.
I have a defective passenger seat in my 1993 Sunbird which I bought last year.
The seat in my '89 Sunbird was never very good from new, but it has a different setup underneath than the '93 so I cannot use it as reference.

What is happening to the '93 seat is that when someone is sitting in it, it will not lock into position, so when I stop the passenger will slide forward!

Does anyone have a diagram of how the '93 seat mechanism is put together, or possibly send me some good photos if they have a working one?

Thanks in advance.

Did you remove the seat yet and look at the mechanism where the release handle for moving the seat attaches to?

I have not removed the seat yet, but looking underneath near the the back closest to the door, the bracket that has a notch in it, has no spring tension as it looks like the spring might be broken. There is also another longer spring that is hanging and I am unable to determine where it should go.

did you try comparing it to the other seat?

Yes, but the drivers seat is different, and my 1989 Sunbird is totally different (and it never worked well from new).

I just has my '92 seats out. You've got springs off. I could pull the passenger seat and take pics.

Im interested in this post also as my 92's both seat backs do not lock in position anymore after I sprayed them with spray oil last year because the hinges looked rusty................

( the rest of the seats mechanism works fine)

Doug in P.R.

It would be great if there were schematic diagrams somewhere as the Sunbird seemed to have problematic seats.

I actually have a shop manual for my '89, but there are no details on the seats, but I will check again and report back.

Thanks, but I can't see the spring details. Where are the parts available?
