I have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird with a driver side headlight that won't raise. When the headlights are switched on, the passenger side comes up, but the driver side stays down. The cone shaped rubber piece on the driver headlight motor spins, but it doesn't raise the headlight. Possible broken gear?

If the knob is turning the motor is running. Try topdownsolutions dot com for a rebuild kit.

Its not a bad gear !! BUSHINGS ARE SHOT !!

Your Delrin bushings are shot inside the motor !! Bad as it sounds , its only a $10 - $15 fix , few basic tools , and a small amount of mechanical know how. There are many vendors on Ebay .
Some sell the original Delrin Bushings , which last about a year or two then disintegrate into chunks and dust like yours most likely have .
some sell a white plastic bushing which "pretty much ":(does the same thing .
There is one on there that sells an aluminum upgrade headlight motor repair kit with a lifetime warranty.
Be sure to select one with good instructions!
The gears on these motors are almost never stripped. (unless accident)
I have rebuilt tons of these.

hey hi cant find anybody that sells aluminim bushings
