...reliability ? Just baught a used 1 owner Sunbird 1990 and it has only 47,000 miles on it's 2.0 but I hear a tapping noise comming from under valve cover I think? Should I try replacing the upper cam or just leave it the way it is and drive it...

i own a repair shop, and id just leave it alone, those was good little cars ,and the 2.0 is a good engine,if it gets too bad you can have the valves adjusted on it,that's whats causing this to happen, but other wise id just drive it for now,,and even changing the oil in it would probably help it a lot,,but those little cars ;last real good if taken care of,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.,,PS i have owned 3 of those cars ,and they all make a slight ticking noise in the valves, its not nothing wearing out on you ,good luck.

just drive it ---Great little cars---and you have one with allmost no miles-good deal.

Try "slick 50" first. I've had some success also with "Marvel Mystery Oil", an old time remedy. The problem is likely to be a sticky hydraulic valve lifter. If it is indeed sticking, it can cause damage to the cam lobe. Better have a mechanic look at it if the above does not remedy the problem.

Those cars are incredibly reliable, mine is approaching 200,000 miles with no breakdowns. I would give it an oil change & drive it to see what happens. If it doesn't get any louder I wouldn't worry about it.
