hey i have a 1990 Sunbird Le with the 2.o non turbo and i replaced the head and head-gasket ..... so it runs excellent just after running it so long it loses water somewhere and over heats... the thermostat housing cap had a leak but i got one of those and i replaced the gaskets.... it doesn't have a thermostat in it right now... and I'm waiting on the side radiator cap because its seal broke when i took it off... i haven tried it since i put the new gasket in though.... the fan is hot wired to the ACC... because it wasn't kicking on ... the temp gauge works but it never kicked on... and there is two sensors on the housing ...i cant find the single wire that plugs into one....any ideas are appreciated thank you:confused:

did you pressure test the system for leaks? did you properly bleed the system of air after all the work?

i had the head checked after they rebuilt it .... and bleed the system??? its a std 4cylinder... its not like its a mr2 where lines run from radiator all the way back to the motor.. it doesnt leak at all... just once you stop doing 60 mph on the hwy and come to stop lights it starts overheating...and the fan runs fine too..could my rad be clogged? or pump messed up? idk im stressed:confused:

typically the only thing a pump will do is leak. If you radiator is clogged it will cause overheating but I would expect it to happen at all speeds. You also need a thermostat otherwise the water flows through the radiator too fast to transfer heat, assuming it's not clogged. You say they replaced the head, did they check it for cracks? If you cannt find a leak it's burning it. If you just had the motor rebuilt why arent you going back to the shop that did the work?

i replaced the head and we had it rebuilt so the head was fine..i was reading somewhere that the hoses could be part of the problem..but since i took out the thermostat it has been fine.....it would run good for a while then it would overheat with the thermostat in.... now and again i would go around a sharp corner and it would cut out and wanna die for a sec.... but now a check engine light pops on and it cuts out and i have to pettal the throttle to keep it rapped out ..sounds like a fuel pump or filter huh? what pins do you jump to read the codes??

well i checked the codes and it was high vacum in the map so i changed the airfilter and no codes now but its still running like dog shit....

what was the code?
