I have a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird LE convertible with a 3.1 v6. it will start just fine but after you drive for about ten minutes it dies. then it wont start back up for a few hours. it has new spark plugs, plug wires, new starter, battery, alternator, Ignition coil pack, ignition control module, and computer. I dont know what to do now.

leaky injectors?

My 91 sunbird is doing the same thing. Was this issue resolved? I have did the module and coil pacs. Everything checks good. 40 psi at the fuel rail constantly.

Thanks

Mike

Corvette57, are you saying your car starts, runs a few minutes, dies, and then wont restart for a couple of hours?

It runs about 10 minutes and then dies. It has good spark after it dies. New coil packs and module. If I squirt starting fluid in the TB it will restart. I found a part listed at rock auto for this car. Dont have a clue if it has it or where it is. It a eletronic f.i. control?

Has to be completly cold to restart on its own.
Baffled here. Thanks for help.

The new Computer as listed in the original query, was it calibrated to THAT ENGINE or just tossed in?
Could very well be or have been a defective computer.

As to the query of corvette57, "has to be completely cold to start", sounds like somehow the choke is sticking(but no as it would be obvious when starting) OR you might have a blown Head Gasket (yet this would be very clear and it would not simply die in 10 minutes) OR severe air leakage at the INTAKE OR a defective E.G.R. OR severe Vacuum Leaks and/or defective Vacuum devices. Any other OR, I'm uncertain.
MANY operational problems can be traced to Vacuum.
Do you have a Repair Manual SPECIFIC to that Model-Year?? Such will help in defining component locations.
