Hello I'm new here and i was wondering if anyone could help me

I have a 94 firebird and i was wanting to put and older model blazer motor in it. I was wondering if the mounts will bolt up, what about the tranny and what else would i have to do. the motor is a 350. will the radiator work, will the rear end hold up to the high horse power, and what would i have to do with the computer?

please help. thank you.

Bud, to each his own, but Why an old Blazer motor? Go with a newer LS1 or an LT1 or even an LT4. But if that is the engine you really want then, yeah, the rear end will hold up to the semi high HP the engine puts out, It SHOULD be good for about 300-350HP, the Rad will probably NOT be big enough for a Carburated 350, I can garentee it, and the mounts will be dfferent, you may have to do some cutting, That Im not to sure on, but everything else Im sure. If you can afford it, go with one of the aformentioned engines. But Its your hot rod, so, Hope you have fun with it, should be a good time, keep us posted with your progress.

the reason i want to use this motor is i already have it and i also have a lot of parts for it. plus it has a four bolt main. I have been doing some reseach and it looks like the frame is already drilled and all i have to do is move the mounts. as far as the radiator gose what would be a good way to get a cheap one that i will not have to do much work for

thanks

On mine, I go a nice aluminum 4 core heavy duty rad for 400 canadian, so you can find one for between 300-400 Im sure. Dont cheap out on a rad, especially if you have lots of hot weather and drive it around as a daily driver, if your going to the track or dont drive it much, then a 3 core will be fine also, but I like to be on the safe side with that, its a pain when you over heat at a red light or somthing. Another good investment would be a set of electric fans, one constantly on, the other you can control or set it up like mine and have it run with the thermostat. That will help give you more power to the ground as there is no belts running the fan blades therefore no power lost there. and less weight also, but in that car it should already be an electric fan. So the one there may just need to be replaced with a bigger one.

also if you plan on putting a lot of power into what used to be a 6 cylender, you may want to consider frame conecters, ( stiffeners ) whatever you want to call it, they are cheap and help reduce twisting, I have a T-Top car, and I needed it when I put all my mods on or I would have twisted my frame like a pretsel and possibly broke my roofs. Your frame should hold your power fine but consider that as an option as well, What rear end do you have? You may want to be carefull with what power your putting into that, The rear ends were different for the 6 and 8 cylender cars, Im guessing you have a non posi? You should beef that up as well, or if you hook good and have too much power for the car, youll snap the rear end like a pencel. I have gone through 2 this year cause I didnt do it properly and had to much tire and power for it to handle, and my car started as a V-8. Just some food for thought. Good luck, keep us informed.

where would i get the stiffeners. i am not sure what rearend i have i will have to check and get back to you. the car dose have electric fans but i think they run through the computer and i will probably do away with it so i will have to rewire the fans.

thanks

sorry i havent replyed in so long but i have been very busy i still havent gotten time to check on any thing but i will try to do it tonight

thanks
