1994 Pontiac Firebird headlight motor problem?

i have a pontiac firebird that just started to have this problem about a week ago. when i put the headlights up they go up fine, but when i put them back down the left headlight motor keeps on spinning once its down and is grinding the motor. do i need a new headlight motor or what is wrong with it? if it is the headlight motor how much would one be, just wondering?

The gear is stripped. There is a rebuild kit from www.top-downsolutions.com. Or you can just rotate the gear 180 degrees. Both require disassembly of the gearbox. I have also heard that you can disconnect the arm and rotate the wheel to flip the gear around.
