1994 Pontiac Firebird headlight motor problem?

i have a pontiac firebird that just started to have this problem about a week ago. when i put the headlights up they go up fine, but when i put them back down the left headlight motor keeps on spinning once its down and is grinding the motor. do i need a new headlight motor or what is wrong with it. Could it be fixed w/ a new gear or a rebuild kit instead of replacing the motor if thats the problem?

You should be able to fix it with a repair kit. Sounds like the gear is stripped.
