1994 pontiac firebird problems?

hi i have a 1994 pontiac firebird that has been stalling i brought it up to a mechanic and he said that it was the fuel pump , and that its going to cost a pretty penny since he has to drop the exaust and remove the heat sheild just to get to it. How much on estimate is a fuel pump where a mechanic might purchase it and how many hours laber for this process thanks

the pump is probably a few hundred dollars but you can go to any auto parts store and get the price. The pump is in the tank so he may be correct that the exhaust is blocking access to it and has to be move out of the way. It is a multi hour job and the mechanic should be able to tell you what his hourly rate is.
