You can put any engine into any car as long as you throw enough money at it.
Seeing you had to ask this question in the first place I doubt you have the mechanical skills to take on a project like this yourself.
The 3100 is a 60 degree V6. The 3.8 is a 90 degree V6. These are completely different engines. Because of this you may have problems adapting it to your frame. You may need to heavily modify the K member and the motor mounts.
You would need to graft in the computer from the supercharged 3.8. However this computer may not work your instruments. So you may need to use both computers. A big pain.
You will also need to do some custom exhaust work.
As I said before, you will need to pay someone to do all of this for you. The going rate for a professional to do this will be $100 per hour or more. I would estimate at least 100 hours to complete the swap. So plan on spending at least $10,000 to $15,000 on the labor alone. Add another $5000 for the engine and other miscellaneous parts and your project will cost between $15,000 to $20,000. That's a lot of money to spend on a 15 year old Sunbird.
However a popular swap for a car like this is to put in a 3.4L from a newer car. This was been done before so you wouldn't be reinventing the wheel.
