1995 Firebird Parking Brake Stuck?

Got a 1995 Firebird recently, went to drive it home a little while ago only to notice that the parking brake handle is stuck up. If I push down the button, the button itself gets stuck down but I can pop it out. I cannot move the handle at all. With or without the button being down.

It's a manual. Any advice at all on what I should do to get it unstuck is greatly appreciated.

the other fellow has a point, and you can also remove the plastic covering and pry the button lock apart.
