My daughters Grand Am will crank but not start. Last week a mechanic came to my house and stuck a screwdriver down next to a spark plug and the car started. The car is refusing to start again does anyone know what the mechanic did so I don't have to pay and I can do it myself. he said I had a loose spark plug but he did not tighten any of the spark plugs.

It turns over but will not start. It tries and sputters at the end of each attempt. The mechanic said it was a loose spark plug last time and he fixed it with a flat head screw driver. I have never seen a spark plug that a screw driver can tighten. He did stick a flat head screw driver down next to a spark plug for a second and then started the car. I am really confused at what he did.
