Hello have a 96 firebird with the Lt1 engine ,it runs over to 220 - 240 gets close to the red I always get off the road are try to get were can get moving never let it get hot if setting in traffic in summer with ac on
also will get over 200 with ac off if setting in traffic for long time ,has soon you start moving it will cool down .
I rebuilt the engine couple yrs ago put all new hoses thermostat water pump belts had block boiled out .
then the radiator started to leak so went bought a new O'Reilly radiator .still run this warm long has your not in traffic runs cool on a hot day.also have the fan programed to come on at start up they are stock fans has all the radiator shrouds air dam under car .thanks for any ideals
Hello yes the fans come on when the engine starts up and stays on.the temp gauge will run right above the 160 when driving all the time ,
but if you let set and ideal it will creep up to 200 if you have the ac on in traffic will keep creeping up till gets around 230-240.
I did burped the system a few time check that again thanks when I check the cooled level it`s always to the top

when did it start to overheat after the engine rebuild or after the radiator replacement? Since you have 160 while driving it seems to be related to the fans because they cause air flow at low speeds. Did you reposition the fans in any way? Did you cut the wire harness and perhaps have the fans spinning the wrong way?
