Reverse...? So my 96 Sunfire has been hell lately. I have a radiator leak I can live with that... I had a mechanic take a look at it and the clutch slave hydraulic cylinder was out and the throwout bearing was dead... So this mechanic went ahead and replaced the clutch because it was $50 more than just the throwout bearing and rebuilt the slave cylinder. So... now when i tried driving it down the road it went into 1st, 2nd, 4th, and Reverse. BUT... when I was pushing in the clutch put it in gear and release the clutch... it would hesitate and then go into gear. When I was driving a little longer I couldn't get it into the gears I originally could. I went into a parking lot and it wouldn't go into any gear, but I could move the shifter to the left, right, 5th, and Reverse BUT it is stuck in 1st gear. What could this be???? HELP SOMEONE!!! Please this car is a friggin' nightmare... Grr...
ok... so now that I know I must adjust the clutch... how do I do that??? Thank you to everyone who replied to my question.

Relax...breath...the clutch just needs adjusting. Take it back to your mechanic...breath...breath...breath

Unless it's cable operated, the shift linkage is out of adjustment or loose. If it is cable operated, the cable is loose where it's attached to the transmission. I'd say that the mechanic left something loose or just forgot to adjust it after the repairs.
