My 1996 sunfire manual transmission shifter has a lot of wiggle room from left to right. I'm pretty sure it's caused by the shifter linkage, from everything I've gathered. I took some pictures from under the hood, and I think I've pinpointed the problem, but I don't know car lingo very well at all, and was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. Where would I go to get this part? Would it be available at Autozone? What is the proper name?
Thanks for any help! I've linked to the pictures!

Thats the transmission shifter cable and it appears part of the cable is missing. That cable is available at autozone and other part stores. Look at a new cable before buying it to verify the missing component is part of the cable.

Thanks! I looked it up in the haynes manual and yes, it's the shift cable grommet and retainer screw. It comes with the shift cable. You've been a big help.
Thanks again.

Sorry for the double post, but would this grommit and retainer screw be the same on an automatic edition? I found a junkyard, that has one in stock, but they can't tell me if it's auto or stick. Thanks!

Wow dude, you had to have gone out of your way to find that. You really saved me a lot of trouble. I really appreciate it! I did something similar and it works like a charm!
