1996 v8 firebird formula tune up?

ok so i have a 1996 v8 firebird formula it clean ani love it but it doesnt run as nice as it looks i was told that my cylindeers r mis firing and i an feel it idle rough so they said it needs a tune up but they also said they need to remove the water pump to tune the car up so it will coast me around 500 dollars for the tune up ..... wat do u guys think....plus they said i need a new egr i dnt even know wat the that is.

normally you dont remove a water pump to do a tuneup. ask them why they have to remove the pump you are leaving something out in your explanation, perhaps they told you the car needs a new timing sensor?
