Hey guys
I have been surfing around the forum for a while, but never had issues to post about.
Til now anyway. the wife and i are out of town for the anniversary and my hand built 1997 3800 decided to die on me while idling. And she wont restart. Here's the list of symptoms leading up to this.

An occasional bog under hard acceleration, and a sweet smell from the exhaust, kind of had me leaning toward catalytic converter. Until now.
Now i am thinking ignition module, but have read things that point me toward crank sensor.
I have tested for spark and have none, but i am 150 miles from my tool box so i can't go into detail until my friend comes and picks me up.
The fuel pump is cycling and pressure is good.
When it died it was like someone cut off the key. No sputters or misfires.
Need some help quick guys, so if anybody is surfing the forums this weekend i could really use the help. Thanks all

Well you have established there is no spark but without tools or testing equipment you are pretty much limited to checking for a blown fuse.

Well update..
After we got the girl home last night i went to the parts sore i work at and grabbed a crank sensor.
Ran every input and output test i could on theignition module and tracked it to the crankshaft position signal for 3x so it wouldnt start.
Pulled it down to change the sensor and found a rubbed spot in the wire that supplies power to the crank and cam sensor. Fixed it just in case and went ahead and replaced the sensor since mine was a factory 97 unit.
Got everything hooked up and cleared the ses codes and she is purring like a v6...

glad to hear it, that worn connection to the sensor seems to be a somewhat common issue.
