...work? My question is about my car. 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE 4 door 2.4L Twin Cam engine.

A while back I was driving down the road and all of the sudden my doors locked and the door ajar chime sounded. I thought that it was wierd and then went on. Well it started happening over and over. Next thing I noticed is my interior lights won't work. Then I noticed my rear defrost isn't working. Then I noticed my chime/dinger doesn't work telling me that my lights are left on or my keys are still in the switch etc. All of this happened all at once. They all started working again about 2 weeks after this happened then a couple days later it happened again and they've been off for a couple months now. I took it to a local mechanic and he couldn't find what was wrong with it he said he thought it was some relay under the dash that had gone out. I am trying to figure this out because if I don't drive my car for one day then the battery is dead everytime. Thanks in advance for any help.

NOT sure but your car may have a BCM (body control module) if that went out it could cause the issues you describe, also you may have a bad door lock module (probably drivers side) if the switch is in the door the contacts may have gone bad causing a open circuit that will not let the chime / dome lamp circuit to complete it's circuit ..
97 was a changover year for BCM/doorlock module useage so you may have to contact a dealer to be sure but that is what it sounds like to me ..
