new to the forum. I frequent many other forums because I have too many cars and too many teenage drivers. I would like some input if possible on my situation.

The car in questions is a 1997 2.2 sunfire. I am troubleshooting my A/C problem. The clutch doesnt kick on. I have checked the relay under the hood by switching it with the fuel pump realy and it seems to work. I tried to jump the low pressure switch but that did not kick on the clutch, assuming I did it correctly. How do I check to see if the clutch is getting voltage? What should I see in the readings? I unplugged the only connector on the compressor and attempted to probe it with my meter. I really didnt know what I was looking for. Is there another pressure switch?

Thanks

Thanks for the diagram. I noticed that I have that in the back of the haynes manual I have. I am just not sure how to read it and use it to trouble shoot.

Update

Finally got around to really digging deaper into this issue. I checked and rechecked everything from relays to fuses. All checked out. It was hard to run a jumper wire to the compressor because of the position of the compressor, so I tapped into the wire going to the compressor from on top where it crosses the engine. Put power to it and the clutch kicked in. Loaded a can or two of freon and all was fine. That was short lived but only a week. So, conclusion was low on freon, I didnt have a clue how to jumper the pressure switch with three leads. Now I am chasing a leak somewhere. This week I will put the dye in and see what surfaces.
