...Am? What are the trouble spots of the Grand Am (any trim level)? What are the cost of the usual things that go wrong with them?

well, being a grand am owner i love mine. but there are two recalles out on there on the grand am, one being the electical, a starter wire will overheat. the second is the gas tank, itll leak in a rear impact. both are fixed free of charge. they are only specific years though. check the vin and run it through a dealer. other than that, i love mine. it's a little older than urs has 224K miles and still runs strong, and is mint. it'll still beat civics and all those little wanna be cars, sry. i couldn't have asked for a better friend.

My fiancee and I bought a 2003 Grand Am GT Coupe in 2006. So far, we've had to replace the AC Compressor, turn signal relay, alternator, serpentine belt twice, some window trim, oil pan gasket, intake manifold gasket, AC header unit, wiper control stalk, and some other random small stuff. And, the recalls, but that was free. Fortunately, it was all covered under the warranty we bought, but we're getting rid of it once the warranty is up. It's been a nightmare. I'm a reasonably handy guy car-wise, so I've maintained it properly. My fiancee does most of the driving, and she's hardly a speed demon or rough driver. Just not at all impressed with the quality of it (especially compared to my 200+k miles Toyota MR2 and 1990 Toyota Celica with 261k miles that still runs great). It's not a terrible car... but I'd have trouble recommending it to someone. Especially without a warranty.
