1998 Fuel Pump Problems

So i have a 1998 3.8 liter v6 firebird. it would not start so we installed just a new fuel pump and it started right up. the next day we came back and it wouldnt start. so we saw that there were some dry rotted wires in the fuel pump assembly kit. so we bought a brand new fuel pump assembly kit and it started right up. so the next day we came back and once again it wouldnt start. does anyone have any ideas?

did you run a fuel pressure test? did you change the fuel filter?

yes i changed the fuel filter, and no i didnt do the fuel pressure test but it started up when we first changed it both times and then when we let it sit over night it wouldnt start the next day.

did you check for voltage going to the pump? did you check the relay? did you check for a blown fuse? do you hear the pump for a few seconds when you first turn the key on?

yes i checked all of that but i havent listened to the fuel pump when i turn on the key. But i just dont understand why it would start up 10-15 times and then it sits over night and it wont start.

you have to establish whether or not when the vehicle wont start if the pump is getting power. If not it could be the relay or the ignition switch.

I would try a new ground, even if you're getting good voltage. Very common problem in GM's.
