1998 sunfire 2.2 engine blown.

Hello. I have a 98 Sunfire with a blown engine. Is it true I need a 98 motor only for this car or can I get one from another year Sunfire / Cavalier? It looks like the block is very similar to my 95 Sunfire, just intake and exaust different?

Pretty sure you can use a cavalier engine, as long as its a 2.2. As far as year goes, I don't know.

Thanks for the reply. I talked to my local wrecking yard since I posted and he tells me Sunfire or Cavalier 98 to 2001 will work however the 98 is a bolt in where the 99 to 2001 have to change wiring harness and intake. He has a 98 motor with low milage for $400.00. I think that is the way I will go.
