1999 Grand Am Electrial problem starter

I have a 99 Grand Am and after you drive it for a while the dash goes out completely and if you shift from drive to neutral or park the starter engages and won’t stop till you shift it back to Drive. This has the 4cyl engine. If you turn the car off and then re start it the problem goes away.

Welcome aboard. Is this car new to you? Have you by chance noticed any wetness on the passenger side? If not, you probably have a worn out ignition switch. If yes, I would suggest dropping the panel under the glove box and inspecting the body control module connections for oxidation/corrosion. Poor connections at the BCM can make these cars do some really flaky stuff.

Hi yes it is new. I will check for wetness and also the ing switch. Thanks for the advice
