I pulled over on interstate 80 and let it cool down checked oil, coolant, hoses and everything seemed correct.Running very rough at idle, like it needed a tune-up or firing only on 3 of the 4 cylinders. This never happened before, temp. guage normal ANY IDEAS ?????

You need to have the car scanned for codes, too many possibilities.

It's at my car surgeon,as I type.4 years ago a head gasket was replaced and while apart the engine was rebuilt. The car Dr. who has it, has been my car guy, since the very beginning, after initial Pontiac warranty period ended (21) years ago.No body rot, not even the stainless exhaust system has ever been replaced.Snow, ice, heat it goes and still looks sharp. He does have all modern diagnostic tools. Thanks

Ok, good luck

Thank you.My ride got me 60 miles home, even in bumper to bumper traffic for 5 miles, approaching my major bridge crossing without stalling out, never overheated but bucking like a unbroken bronco. It's all up to the doctor now, who knows the car from toddler days

Age (original from factory) and probably heat, over the years.Careful diagnostics identified the problem. Many wind up replacing fuel pumps, plugs etc. when it actually is a module gone bad. Thanks to responders
