1999 pontiac grand am gt heat & a/c not working on 1&2 but work on 3,4,5?

1999 pontiac grand am gt;; and the heat & a/c doesnt work on 1 or 2, but work on 3,4, & 5, whats the problem.? the guy at auto zone told me to take it to a mechanic to check it out but i dont trust anyone wuith my car, i fix everything on my car myself, & im just afraid of someone going & ****ing up my car.. is this something i can fix myself .?? or should i just do what the guy at autozone told me to do ..???

The blower motor resistor is bad, it is located under the dash near the blower motor and is hard to access but can be replaced by someone with a little know how and some time..
but it may be something better left to a service tech ..

BTW... I am a ASE cert Service tech^^^^
