Okay so I am interested in buying a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am but the head gasket is blown. The car is being sold for $600. I was just wondering how much does it cost repairing the head gasket? and if its even worth wasting the money? Help please!
How many miles on it? What kind of shape is it in otherwise? How's the transmission, etc? Replacing the head gasket could cost you upwards of $1500.
Check with a few local shops and get estimates. Once you've narrowed it down to one, take the car in and find out if anything else needs to be fixed. If the total repair cost plus your $600 adds up to something reasonable, go for it.
