Hi everyone, just bought my second fiero a few months ago and after a month of driving the timing set went out, finally got time to drop the motor and fixed it.
it has always started hard in the mornings but always started easy the rest of the day but now its starting has been getting worse. taking three or fourtimes of cranking it for 10 seconds or so. but now its not getting any fuel at all while cranking but i shoot some ether in the throat it runs jusdt fine. so iknow its getting spark just not fuel.
im thinking its electrical between the ignition module and the injector because the module has been tested fine. has any one had a problem like this or does some one have some input on the wires to check on or anything else to look at
all help is apreciated as this is a car that i need to start driving again (my pickup takes too much gas lol)

Do you hear the pump run for a few seconds if you turn the key to the on position? If not, you need to check the fuel pump fuse and relay.

Chances are it is the fuel pump relay is bad. You probably do not hear the fuel pump run for a second when you turn the key on. The reason it runs if you get it to fire because the Oil pressure sensor has a fuel pump control in it where when the oil pressure gets high enough it applies power to the fuel pump. So since it runs when oil pressure is high, the fuel pump fuse is good.

The reason the oil pressure sensor does this is part of a safety feature to cut power to the fuel pump when in a severe accident.

Another way to test if it is the relay is to remove the panel where the cig lighter is. The ALDL connector is behind it. There is a single pin on the left side of the connector. This is the power line to the fuel pump. If you hook a volt meter with the positive to the pin and the other to ground, You should read 12VDC when you turn the key on. If not relay is bad. If you apply 12 VDC to the pin you should here the fuel pump turn on. (fuse and pump good)

ok thanks guys ill check it. i do hear the pump run but i havent really listened for it when the car wont start.the relay is located on the firewall on the drivers side isnt it?
