• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I had heard that it is possible to make the 2.8 a stroker by installing a 3.1 crank and connecting rods. I know the journals match up but are there any other mods I need to make. Do I need new pistons or will the 2.8 pistons have enough clearance after the longer stroke of the 3.1 crank.

wouldnt it be cheaper to buy a used 3.1 and throw in new bearings and rings?

The stroker kit comes with a new crank and pistons. Make sure you get the pistons for the iron heads. The aluminum heads have a smaller chamber so the pistons for those versions will lower your compression a lot.
The rods are the same between the engines.

FYI - The 3.1L is a 2.8L with a different crank and different pistons. The 3.4L has the 3.1L crank and larger diameter pistons due to a larger bore.
