2 Barrel Carb - Gas coming out of tube ?

2 barrel Carb on 1968 Pontiac Lemans. When the car starts up and gets going there is gas that starts to come out of the tube that I have pointed out in the red square in the attached picture. What is this tube and why is gas coming out of it and spilling over into the flap? Thanks . . . JIMB
 
Your float level is too high possbily because of dirt in the needle and seat or the needle and seat are worn out or the float is porous.

Suggestions for Fixing Overflow

What are my alternatives for fixing the fuel overflow problem? Or do I just go ahead and rebuild the carb? If I rebuild the carb how do I know what rebuild kit to buy? Any suggestions on type of kit to buy or from who to buy? Thanks . . . JIMB
 
Rebuilt carb and all is good. Bought a rebuild kit from Mikes Carburetor. Best place to go for carb rebuild kits. Carb is now running as expected.
