Okay, this requires a lengthy explanation so bear with me here.
One day my car wouldnt start. We tried jumping it, cleaning the battery posts and it still wouldnt start. If I remember correctly it either clicked once or not at all when trying to start. So we replaced the starter.
Whelp, the car starts up real nice and all seems to be well. I take the car for a test drive and all the sudden the RPM's wouldnt go above 3500. Then the ABS and Battery light come on, followed by every single light I have going on, and then the RMP's go to 0. This was followed quickly by the radio puttering out and my car dying completely.
So, my dad and I and everyone I talk to seem to think it's the alternator. We do the tests I read about such as testing the voltage and what not and all signs point toward a bad alternator. So we put a new one of these in. The car starts up fine but it seems to be much louder and the same thing basically happens. The ABS and Battery light come on and it runs out of juice and it dies.
Well the key here is how much louder it is. It seems to us the the starter is remaining engaged the entire time the car is on. This in turn drains the batter maybe cause the car to run out of juice. So we think it might be something to do with the ignition switch or something of that nature. This is our best guess and by no means is an official diagnosis.
This is a crazy problem and I have been dealing with it for a couple of weeks now so any help would be greatly appreciated.
