I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1L 4T65E Transmission that after approx 10 minutes (give or take a few minutes either way) just shuts down as if someone turned the key off, except it's still in the run position and the lights in the dash come on. I'm at wits' end with this thing and am done putting any more of my time or money into her (I don't think there's much else left to replace.

No DTC's found
Replaced Crank Position sensor (both of them), Cam position sensor, Both O2 sensors, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, Ignition module, and the list goes on.

Can any part of the PK3 security system cause this or is the security only used at startup? Hypothetically, if the key was able to be pulled out of the ignition while driving (left in the run position of course) would it have any affect on anything?

if the security light isnt coming on after starting the car that is not the issue. When it runs is it smooth or rough running? did you check the egr and it's passageways? did you check the IAC? did you check for vacuum leaks?

Thanks @melsg5! The security light doesn't stay on so I guess it's safe to rule that out. It runs very smooth when running. I have not checked the EGR and passageways or checked for vacuum leaks but will do so and reply back with my findings and let you know. Also, I have replaced the IAC with a new one and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body including the mating surface for the IAC. Please bear with me a couple days though as I'm working out of town in the bay area through Saturday, returning home Sunday.

My 2000 Grand Prix was having the same problem not too long ago. After doing some research found out it was one of the solenoids in the transmission was keeping it stuck in overdrive. Mine would stall after 10 mins of warming up or when i shift into gear. Changing that solenoid could run from $500 to $600, however I found that running some seafoam transtune in my transmission stopped my car from stalling completely. I noticed a big difference in how smooth my transmission shift after running some TransTune in it. Its worth a shot, only $9 for a can

you need to borrow a fuel pressure tester from Advance or AutoZone and to a fuel pressure test on that car. if you've rep;laced all those sensors, you've gone down the same rabbit hole i started down with my tahoe only to find out it was the fuel pump all along. had the same issue with a Saturn wagon as well. removing the key from the ignition shouldn't do it but test it with leaving the key in and see. stranger things have happened
