Just got the mother in laws van back from its 3rd transmission rebuild in 6 months (thanks Ammoco, for such great service. NOT
) and it wont accelerate past 3500 rpm. The transmission shop told us that the catalytic convertor was clogged, (I dont know why i listened to them, but its better than paying them to do it) so i installed a test pipe in its place and it still does the same thing. It will accelerate to 4000 rpm then cough and sputter, i release the accelerator and it drops to 1800 rpm and hold there for a second or two, then drops to idle. Has anyone else seen or heard of a problem like this?? Any help would be appreciated
