2000 Pontiac Firebird high idle

My 2000 Pontiac Firebird 3800 Series II v6 has began idling around 1400 rpm after being revved over 2000 rpm. It did start leaking antifreeze somewhere around the water pump, i filled it back up with 50/50 antifreeze it was only a quart low, and the egr valve has been sticking causing it to idle rough but i cleaned out and the problem somewhat cleared up. The egr issue was around a week ago so i don't know if that is causing the high idle or not. Any ideas why it might be idling high?
 
Sounds like you have at least two things going on here which may or may not be related.

1. You have a coolant leak somewhere around the water pump. You need to trace this down and repair it. Coolant leaks won't just go away, they get worse and can cause risk of engine damage.

2. You have a high idle after the engine runs over 2000 rpm. You've cleaned up the egr valved which has smoothed out the idle somewhat.
• Is your check engine light on? Do you have any error codes?
• Have you cleaned out the IAC valve and the throttle body?
• Have you checked your throttle linkage to see if it is sticking at all?
 
The check engine light is on, I'm not sure of the exact code, one is for the o2 sensor(the cat is gutted) and the other is for the egr valve, i haven't had a chance to get it scanned again since the problem started, I do plan to fix the coolant leak but i am currently away from home so i am limping it until i get back home and can take the water pump off. I have not checked the IAC valve, does it have throttle linkage? i thought it was all done by wire there aren't any cables running to the throttle body just wires.
 
I'd look for a vacuum leak. That can cause a high idle, even with DBW. A stuck open EGR usually causes a stall, or a really nice sounding lope at idle, like with a big nasty cam.

Don't believe the '00 3.8 Firebird had an IAC.
