The clock on my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am does not light up anymore, which also serves as the light for the radio/CD player so I know what station it is on. What might be wrong with it and how do I go about fixing it?

Also, that's the only thing not lighting up on the dash. The background lights for the dials and buttons still light up when the headlights are on.
I guess I should say it does light up only a little bit. You can't even read what time it is it's so dim. Would that still mean it's probably a fuse?

im not sure. but i think they did shotty work on the radios in the grand am's though. i haven't had mine very long and all the print on the radio buttons is already coming off. grrrrrr

It's the fuse - it has to be replaced. Look in your fuse box and find the the one that goes to the radio and clock light (could also be separate fuses as well). If it's black inside, then it's fried and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Could be the light bulb...

Hey there,

The light bulb in these radios for the display was a small, 12 volt incandescent bulb behind the display. If you shine a light in the clock (with the inginition on or in recall) and still see numbers, the bulb is out.

You can get a replacement bulb on ebay for about 15 bucks, or, you can purchase a small pack of miniature 12v clear 10 bulb treetop christmas bulbs for about a buck. Use one, and it'll be good for along, long time. All you have to do is take off your radio's face, remove the plastic bulb socket, carefully remove the old bulb, then put the christmas bulb in the socket and wrap the leads around the contacts, put the socket back in, put the face back on, and voila. You should have a display now.

Hope this helps,
Starflare5.
