i have a 2000 pontiac grand am gt. it's been rode hard and not taken very good care of but it's paid off. im looking to have a little fun with it. so... i thought instead of springing for beater project car why not play with it. i thought of trying a 3.8 supercharged swap from a gtp or something but was wondering if it was possible/practical to build a 4.3 and fit it to car?

Not practical for a 4.3 (the trans wouldn't mount to the engine), enough time and money anything can be done though. As far as the 3.8 you would need the entire engine harness, sensors, computer, rework the engine mounts at the very least.

It would be easier to mate a 3.8 to the Grand Am transmission than a 4.3 as I don't think GM used a 4.3 in a front wheel drive vehicle.

I always felt that a supercharged 3.8 could be possible in the Grand Am.

You could also build up the 3.4. You would be surprised what can be done to this engine. I've seen stroker kits, racing pistons, and performance camshafts for this motor. I also read an article on how to swap GM LS1 or LS6 valve train parts into this engine.

See the link below to the 60 degree V6 forum. Lots of good information on this engine.
