2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT. Is it a good car?

I drive a pontiac grand am gt. I absolutely hate driving it in the snow. I tried to get out of the drive way in 3 inches of snow and I slide everywhere. I feel like when I drive on slippery roads even at just 15-20 mph is unsafe. Is it me or the car? Also can you recommend some cars that are REALLY REALLY REALLY good in the snow? thanks
 
How many miles are on your tires? instead of buying a new car, why dont you buy a set of snow tires?
