Help,,,, I have a 2000 pontiac grand am with a quad four 4 cylinder automatic. The probelm is sometimes it will not start. It cranks fine, it is like it is not getting spark or gas. Turn the key switch back to off and then crank the car again then it will start.. Sometimes this has to be done a few times.. Anyone have any ideas were to start. Thanks

my 95 had the same problem you might wanna just check the starter....maybe coil pack..... my 95 cranked it too a few times then it worked.... but mine was just the starter itself.....

pump the gas padle

I want to say that there is a reflash for the PCM available. GM came out with an updated calibraton to fix extended crank times on these I-4 grand ams.... I'd have to check to be certain though

I had the same thing happening with my Pontiac Grand AM and Pontiac people will charge you and they know what is going on. What you need to do is turn the key "ON" in the ignition and wait for the security light to stop flashing, it takes about 10 minutes. After it stops flashing turn the key to "OFF" then turn the car on. It has to do with some security system that comes with the Grand AM's

You might also need an ignition switch, that is also a common problem with these cars. But that 10 minute relearn procedure is also valid, that the unregistered guest mentioned. You might actually have to do that 3 times in succession to get it to work properly....
