2000 pontiac grand prix gt problems

I just picked up my new (used) car and when i started it up it makes a gurgling noise like in the dash. There's also a little bit of white smoke coming from under the hood after i drive it and the check engine light is on. Anyone know whats wrong??

So you didnt have the car checked before buying it? For the check engine light go to autozone or similar store and have the code checked. The white smoke could be a cooling system leak, try to find the source of the smoke. The gurgling sound could be air in the cooling system related to the possible cooling system leak.

Well I bought the car from my mechanic really cheap. I have been dealing with the guy for years so i trust him. He fixed the rocker panels and gave me a new catalytic and fixed some other things for free because he said he wouldnt feel good about giving it to us knowing there was issues with it. He said let him know if there was anything else wrong and he would take care of it but I'm not in the same town as him anymore so I dont wanna drive back there if its minor and something that can wait a week or so. also he did spray it with an undercoating yesterday.. could the smoke be chemical burn off? The heat works great also.

Also the smoke is coming from the rear like behind the engine i guess.

I doubt white smoke would be caused from undercoating. In the morning when the engine is cold check the coolant level.
