Hi everyone, I just signed up to this forum and this is my first thread ever.
My 2000 pontiac GTP (only 77K miles) is really starting to scare me. As I drive and stop at a light, my RPM's drop down to 0 and yet, the car is still running and I can still accelerate just fine. This happened every now and then, but yesterday as I was on the highway doing 70, the car jerked a bit (thought that it felt like the transmission downshifting or something) but then I look at my dashboard and my RPMs are at 0 again, and I'm still driving and accelerating as if everything were fine.
That said...recently my car sometimes does not start for a while. I turn the key and the engine seems to "turn over, or is it roll over" but it doesnt start and then after I try again or sometimes try 2 times, it starts. Getting worried about taking the car anywhere now as I don't want to get stuck.
I've done some research and saw that a guy with a dodge was having a problem similar to mine with the RPMs (except he could not accelerate) and it turned out he had to change his ignition coil.
Any help/advice anyone may have would be much appreciated.
