I have a 2000 pontiac sunfire 2.2 5 speed it has 132k 0n it. I have been having problems lately with the car it starts and idels but when you start driving it revs just fine until you switch gears then there is a hesitation once the gas is applied again it just slams and them its fine until you switches gears again them the same thing once your in 5th gear it runs but it does the same thing it you let off the throttle then apply again it hesitates then takes off the car also dies when coming to a stop but starts back up fine then it will idle. I also have a problem with the car not heating up once the weather gets cold and I get on the freeway it cools to about 150 deg It has a new radiator hoses and thermostat and it still does this I have also replaced the tps sensor trying to fix the first problem. Please help thanks

have you replaced the air and fuel filters? have you checked for a vacuum leak? have you tried cleaning the throttle body and put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank.

If the car is running too cold, the thermostat is probably stuck in the open position. Are the engine fans running when the gauge reads 150?

Fuel filter changed about 15k ago air filter is new. I haven't noticed any vacuum leaks but never really checked really good or the throttle body I put a can of b12 in the gas tank about 10k ago should I do it more often with this car. The car heats up just fine as long as your stopping and going but once I get on the freeway in colder weather it won't stay warm but as soon as I slow down or stop it warms back up but I have never checked to see if the fans are running when this happens. Thanks for the help

check for a vacuum leak and clean throttle body and remove thermostat, test in a pan of water with a cooking thermometer unless it's obvious that it is stuck open, or just replace it. What temperature thermostat are you using?

It's a 190 or 195 I just replaced it not to long ago but they are cheap enough to just replace again. What's the best way to check for vacuum leaks?

first try listening for a high pitched sound near any vacuum lines, then try carb cleaner around any seams between components such as throttle body, intake manifold, etc. if RPM/idle changes you have a leak
