So.....give me some pointers, I'm not new to rebuilding engines, but they're all different, so what are the pitfalls that I can hopefully avoid?
after developing a rattle/knock; i replaced the timing chain to no avail, pulled the pan and balance shafts to find a spun rod bearing and, of course; scoured crank.
Do these motors do well with a rebuild? having the crank ground/polished?
Money will dictate how many parts will be replaced or reused.
So far the pars to be replaced will be:
Oil pump, rod bearings, water pump(just because)...i will be pulling the crank, of course, to have it ground; Do I HAVE TO replace the main bearings? Knowing I will have to put them back in the exact locations they came out of, of course, if not.
thanks, Joe

Your machine shop will have to check the crank completely and you will have to replace all bearings.

Thanks. Any info or tricks to get the motor and trans separated to pull just the motor?

I have decided to just drop in another motor.

If it is in good condition may be the less expensive route
