2000 Sunfire Vent Control

Hey guys I was having a problem with my 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L L4 2dr Coupe. I actually have two things relating to the climate control system. So the first is the blower motor only functions on the 3 highest settings. The first settings functions as an off, and lets free air flow in through the car but the blower isn't running. On recirc, no air comes through the vents. The second more baffling question is about the vent control . I've disassembled the climate control system and removed the hoses running to the door control knob assembly. There is only air being vacuumed (a pull) through one of the hoses. Does that mean the vacuum motor must be replaced? How can I tell if the vent control knob assembly with the ports where the hose connection is the problem? If so I can't seem to find either part online. Any help would be appreciated.

You're blower problem is most likely a bad blower resistor block. As for the the other issue, I thought the engine supplied the vacuum for the vent switch. Sorry I can't be more help.
 
thanks for the reply. Do you know where I can get a new blower resistor block and the average price range?
 
Cannt you trace the vacuum lines going to each vacuum motor/actuator and see whether vaccuum is supplied to those motors when you set the knob to the appropriate position. If no vacuum at the motor then the switch is bad if you have vaccuum at the motor then the motor is bad.
 
I know it sounds stupid but where does the vacuum lines trace back to? Is it under the hood? Like where under the hood?
 
You said you have vacuum at the control so why would you want to trace back to engine? You have to trace from control to vacuum motors that control vent doors.

Only one of the tubes has vacuum. Does that mean there is a leak in all the other tubes? Or should there only be vacuum in one of the tubes?
 
As you turn the knob the vacuum should go to the corresponding door that controls that function. So if you select heat the door should move to route all the air thru the bottom vents. That door should be receiving vacuum from the switch.
 
So if I turn the switch through all the functions (recirc -> defrost) and the vacuum suction doesn't change from that one tube, the switch is bad?
 
that is the function of the switch, to route the vacuum to the various doors in the vent system, if it doesnt change the path the vacuum takes then the switch is bad.

The hose that has vacuum comes from the motor. It is the vacuum supply. The other hoses route the vacuum to the proper doors.
