My daughters 2000 Sunfire with a 2200 engine was going down the road when the engine suddenly just shut down. Had it towed home and put in on the computer and it told me the cam sensor was bad. Replaced it and while I was at it I replaced the crank sensor. I also replaced the coil pack and module I have a donor car that is exactly the same, it runs but not road worthy from wreck. After all of this work still wouldn't start. So ran a compression check low compression so pulled the valve pan and it was turning over but valves not opening and closing it the right order. pulled the timing chain cover and it is out of time buy 3 teeth. What would cause this to happen while driving down the road? gears and teeth look good and have been replaced before. I am at whits end over this. All help will great.

the timing chain tensioner and perhaps the guide are worn/failed
