We have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am and it is giving us major problems.

While driving the car will just cut off. We shift it to Neutral and try to start it up again. It won't start. So we pull off the road and wait 10-15 minutes and it starts again.

We have had to two mechanics who have driven it and ran it each for a week. They can't find anything wrong with it.

Do you guys have any ideas what might be the problem???

There are no warning lights or anything coming on. The fuel filter has been replaced as well as the oil and plugs.

We are afraid to even drive it anymore. I can't believe two mechanics can't seem to figure out the problem.

Have you tried replacing the coil packs? It they are shorting or just going out they will do that. They are not to expensive I think I would try that and if that does not work then take it to the dealer.

I had a 92 Bonneville - but the symtoms seem the same. I had several mechanics try to fix it and after all the trouble - it was the fuel pressure regulator. After that the Bonneville ran smooth. Just an option to inquire.
