2001 grand am passlock

I have recently purchused a 2001 grand am se I am consistantly having problems with the pass lock system the security light flashes when it is in the on position and won't star it turns over but thats it can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it or bypass the system?

Hi, from a past experience I had, I had to turn the key to the run position and leave it for ten minutes, then turn it off and then start it. Also if I remember right there are three wires that go into the ignition, one of them is yellow and I believe I read that if you disconnect the yellow one it will bypass the passlock. I believe the reason you have to leave the key in the run position for 10 minutes is so that the computer can re-learn the security.Like I said this is mostly from memory so I hope this helps.
