After removing the three power steering bolts, I cannot lift the pump high enough and out of the way, in order to access the Camshaft Sensor for
replacement. I was hoping to avoid disconnecting the hydraulic lines to the steering pump. Or is that unavoidable on this model? It's a 3.4L engine.

I siphoned the steering fluid from the pump reservoir with an oven baster, then removed the one solid hydraulic line, placing a small plastic bag over the pipe end to prevent contamination. Leaving the other flexible line attached, I had just enough slack to lift the pump up and out of the way, allowing access to the bolt holding the cam sensor in place. Barely a drop of fluid was spilled in the process, making for a fairly clean experience.

On my 98 I was able to replace it with the help of another set of hands to hold up the pump without removing any fluid or hoses. it was tricky but with a little bearing greese to hold the bolt in the socket it went right in.
