Hello Pontiac Community.

I have a buddy of mine who's coolant system went out. He took it to the a shop and they told him his radiator is fine but the water pump, thermostat, hose, and valves need to be replaced for $1500. From my perspective that is entirely too much money for this and i have never heard of valves in a coolant system before. Is there something special with the Pontiac Montana that has this and does this not seem a little too much for the work they say they are going to do?

Thanks for any info.

As you said there are no valves, there is a misunderstanding between the mechanic and your buddy or you and your buddy. Try to get more details including what was the original problem.

check for intake gasket leaks and coolant in the oil. head gaskets like to go out on the 3.4L vans for some reason too.
