POST 1036

My Grand am over heats when i am at stop and go traffic. It will go over the 200 mark to about 220. But when i am driving on the Freeway or highway my car stays at a steady 200. i tried turning on the AC but the fans didnt come on, and even when my car is over heating the fans dont kick in. Me and my dad hooked the fans directly to the battery and they work and i replaced the fuses. But still no luck. What is wrong with my car.

How could i hook up the fans directly to the battery so they stay on when i am driving non stop.

You could have a leak in the radiator or water pump. I would get those checked out.

It sounds like your fan relay that sends the signal to the electrical signal to the fans to start is fried. I had the same problem in a Cavalier. I had to replace it and it took care of the problem. If you hook up your fans to run constantly, your motor won't run at the right temperature and will be less efficient.
