I had a leak that spilled anti-freeze. My mechanic found the leaky gasket, which i believe he said was underneath some electrical housing and replaced the part. When I went to drive it away, the "trac off" light came on along with the service engine soon light and the car seemed to be slamming in to each gear. I brought it back and we checked it with the reader and it said the tempurture gauge was reading -40 degrees. They replaced the sensor and the light went out and the car returned to shifting normally. I haven't driven the ar much after that, but the same two lights seem to sporadically come on. I am afraid to drive it long distances incase the shifting issue arrises again. Any advice on what could have caused it in the first place or how I can figure out if the change to the sensor truly fixed the issue?

well since you paid the mechanic to do the work you should take it back to him. other than that when the light comes on you can take it to autozone or a similar store that does free scanning of computer codes.

it should be fixed.that might be the knock sensor.if the knock sensor fail, the track off and check engine light will turn on and never turn off unless you erase the code but will turn on again.you just have to replace the knock sensor but the mechanic already changed it so your car should be good now.if you're not sure then buy you own OBD code reader.
